Lost Ball or Out of Bounds– Apply “Alternative to Stroke and Distance“
Estimate where lost ball came to rest or OB ball went out of bounds. Player allowed to drop a ball two club lengths in from edge of fairway being played. Apply 2 Stroke Penalty.
Above rule cannot be applied to Unplayable ball or ball landing in penalty areas.
Barranca on side of fairway #1, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, and 15. Play as Red Penalty area. Drop within two club lenghths from point where ball last crossed the edge of the red penalty area. Apply 1 Stroke Penalty.
Out of Bounds: OB line is determined by the course side face of the white stakes and boundary fences. OB markers or out-of-bounds fences are not obstructions,. No Free Relief.
4 Ways to play from a Red Staked Penalty Area.
- Play ball as it lies. No Penalty.
- Player may take stroke-and-distance relief, hitting ball from point where previous stroke was made. Apply 1 Stroke Penalty.
- Player may take back-on-the-line relief. Dropping the ball on a reference line going straight back from the hole through the point where ball crossed the edge of the penalty area. Apply 1 Stroke Penalty.
- Lateral relief allows player to drop a ball two club lengths from point where ball last crossed edge of Red Penalty area, no closer to the hole. Apply 1 Stroke Penalty.
Rocks in Bunker. Before playing your ball in a bunker, you may remove loose impediments or a movable obstruction.
Drainage Area if ball follows drainage area and rolls into barranca play as Red Penalty area, 1 Stoke Penalty.
Hardpan a flat, hard, dried out area with no turf. Areas due to extensions of cart paths, service roads, or excessive cart traffic. Free relief is allowed, drop ball one club length, no closer to the hole.
Roots in the Fairway. Free relief from the nearest point of relief no closer to the hole.
Bridges A ball coming to rest on a bridge crossing a barranca is considered to be in the barranca. Play as Red Penalty area.
Cement Walls by greens on holes #2 and #3 are immovable obstructions. Swing and stance relief is permitted. Line of sight relief not permitted. Determine the nearest point of relief and add one club length. No Penalty. Ball landing on top of wall and cannot be played, declare an unplayable lie, take a 1 Stroke Penalty.
Putting Green: There is no longer a penalty if a player (or opponent) accidentally causes the player’s ball or ball marker to move on the putting green. Replace ball or ball marker on its original spot.
Hole #2: A ball crossing over, under or through the protective fence on the right side of fairway #2 or going into playing area #3 proceed as Red Penalty area. Red Penalty area is to be marked the length of the protective fence to last pine tree. Drop within 2 club lengths from the point of entry, no closer to the hole. 1 Stroke Penalty.
If ball comes to rest next to the protective stance and swing relief is permitted. Player allowed one club length from the nearest point of relief.
Holes #3 and #4: Barranca play as Red Penalty area.
Hole #7: If ball lands in the drainage ditch and rolls OB, drop ball at point of entry, No Penalty. If protective fence or poles on left side interferes with swing or stance, free relief is applied. Free relief apply to telephone poles on the right side of the fairway.
Hole #8: The telephone pole laying on the ground next to the green is defined as an integral part of the golf course. Play the ball as it lies or take and unplayable lie. No free relief granted.
Hole #11: Ball landing on cart pat near hole 12, bring ball back to hole 11 fairway side. Drop ball one club length in from the edge of the path.
Hole #15: Ball rolls down cart path, replace ball at point the ball entered the cart path, No Penalty. If ball strikes cart path and roles into Barranca play as Red Penalty area. Point of entry, 1 Stroke Penalty.
Balls landing in bushes behind or to the right #15 green is OB. Stroke and distance is applied.
Holes #17 and #18: The cart storage building is played as an immovable obstruction. Swing and stance relief is allowed, not line of sight. A ball landing on the roof, is declared a lost ball.
